Hotel Subsidy Information
Site of the 2007 Symposium main host hotel is the Queena Chinatrust Landmark, located in Tainan County close to Tainan City (about 25-30 minutes from the Taiwan Orchid Plantation).  This is a fine hotel of four-star quality.  There is a subsidy for the first approximately 60 to 100 members of International Phalaenopsis Alliance.  The Taiwan International Orchid show and the Taiwan Orchid Growers Association, the organizers, are providing this subsidy.   The subsidy is a free bed in the Host Hotel for the nights of March 9, 10, and 11, 2007.  Rooms will be double (or possibly single) occupancy if no doubles are available (only 50 total rooms are available, so you may be assigned a roommate by the organizers, or if available a $50 US added charge can be paid for a single room.  If you wish to stay additional nights you must inform the organizers and pay the hotels directly for your extra nights at the normal event rate, which is about US$ 80.00 to 100.00  per night double occupancy.   Space is provided on the registration form for this request.  Since the number of rooms available to International Phalaenopsis Alliance Members is limited they will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.  IF additional rooms become available you will be notified.  If you want to share rooms please indicate roommate names on each registration form.

Money Exchange at the China Trust Hotel
The Queena Chinatrust Landmark Hotel  does provide currency exchange service to their guests.  There are certain restrictions.  They do not accept US$100 bills that were printed in 1996, 1999, and 2001.  Neither will they accept the US$100 bills bearing serial numbers starting with DF and CB.  Old bills may not be accepted.  There is a NT10 fee for cashing travelers checks, but no fee will be imposed for cash exchange.  The exchange fee is NT$190 for other foreign currencies.  The exchange rate is tied to that particular day's rate. However, the actual exchange rate always favors the hotel, but it is not too bad and is convenient.  There is no daily limit how much you want to exchange.  However, people who look "suspicious" may face a limit.

In order to qualify for the subsidy
1. You must be an IPA member , and be in good standing - dues paid currently.
2. You must register and pay through the IPA.  You can not register at the Symposium and receive the subsidy.
3. You must agree to participate in all the Symposium functions starting with the Opening Ceremony Friday and ending with the IPA Dinner Sunday.  The organizers want all foreigners to enjoy the events and meet as many from Taiwan as possible so they request your participation in exchange  for this significant subsidy.  A FAMILY MEMBER SHARING YOUR SUBSIDIZED ROOM IS ALSO EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOCIAL FUNCTIONS (Friday's Opening Ceremony and cocktail party, Saturday's IPA Dinner and Auction, Sunday's Nan Yin Banquet (these items have an asterisk on the schedule)).  Other subsidies  will be offered to judges and speakers directly by the organizers.
